===Band information===

Asphyxia was originally conceived in early 2005 by Brown and Parkhill when they were just 13 years old however the full line-up wasn't complete until Marko Gal joined in late 2006, freeing up Taylor to concentrate on vocals. Early in 2007 the band began playing live and had developed a slightly progressive death metal style with some thrash element. Picking up a grant from the South Australian Youth Arts Board, Asphyxia began recording a full length debut in July 2007 but before it was released Parkhill announced his intention to leave. Brody Green joined in early 2008 and the self-titled album followed soon after. Green and Taylor left the band in December 2008 and with Marchioto and Weedall aboard they opened for '''Whitechapel''' and [[Psycroptic]] in early 2009. Marko Gal then departed in late April. In November, the band won Best Youth Band at the Australian Metal Awards.
