Polaris is a Sydney metalcore band formed in 2012 by Daniel Furnari and Jake Steinhauser. Jamie Hails and Rick Schneider were also soon recruited and the original line-up was completed by bassist Matt Steinhauser and James West on keys and synths. Dichotomy was recorded during 2012 and 2013, and before it was released both West and Matt Steinhauser had left the group. Jake Steinhauser switched to bass and Ryan Siew joined the band.
Alpha Wolf formed as a deathcore band in Burnie, Tasmania in 2013 as Sabian Lynch on guitar, John Arnold on vocals, Jackson Arnold drumming and Hayden Dargavel on bass. The band released a debut EP in 2014 and relocated to Melboure, after which Dargavel left the band. Scottie Simpson replaced him on bass and Lloyd Hornidge was added as a second guitarist but after another EP Hornidge also left and Simpson switched to guitar. John Arnold moved to bass and Aidan Ellaz joined Alpha Wolf as vocalist.

Dichotomy was released in November 2013, eleven days after Siew joined the band. His first recording with them was the 2016 EP The Guilt & the Grief that reached #34 on the ARIA singles chart. This Mortal Coil followed in November 2017 and charted for a week, hitting #6. The album was supported by a capital city tour with The Plot in You and Alpha Wolf. Later in the year they played shows with Parkway Drive ahead of another tour in November with The Devil Wears Prada. This Mortal Coil was nominated for the ARIA Award for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album.
Alpha Wolf toured with bands like Polaris and signed to Greyscale Records for the release of their debut Mono which came out in July 2017. Mono reached #29 on the ARIA album chart and Alpha Wolf was set to open at Melbourne's Download festival in March 2018 as part of their national tour. Before the tour, however, allegations of domestic abuse were levelled at Ellas and he was instantly fired from the band, which then went on hiatus for almost a year.

Polaris' next album The Death of Me was released in February 2020 in time for their appearances opening the main stage at the Download Festival in Sydney and Melbourne. The album reached #3 on the ARIA chart and also charted in Germany and on Billboards Heatseeker chart. Polaris then toured nationally with Wage War and Alpha Wolf but further live activities were stalled by COVID and their next major appearance was at the Knight and Day Festival in December 2021. Their promised 2021 finally went ahead in early 2022 with Alpha Wolf, Justice for the Damned and Mirrors and in April they will appear at the Groovin' the Moo festival.
