Pagan was formed in Melbourne in 2013, developing a style that was part hardcore, part metalcore with blackened rock n roll influences and underpinned by disco-influenced drumming. Heavy Repeater from the 2015 EP found support from Triple J.
With the release of Black Wash in July 2018 after a two-year drip feed of singles, Pagan's profile soared. They toured Australia and then headlined in the UK before returning home to play at Unify Gathering in early 2019. An April/May Australian tour was followed by another visit to Britain, then a showcase performance at Dark Mofo in July. In September 2019, Pagan toured nationally with The Amity Affliction before suddenly announcing they were disbanding in January 2020.
