Band information
Alpha Wolf formed as a deathcore band in Burnie, Tasmania in 2013 as Sabian Lynch on guitar, John Arnold on vocals, Jackson Arnold drumming and Hayden Dargavel on bass. The band released a debut EP in 2014 and relocated to Melboure, after which Dargavel left the band. Scottie Simpson replaced him on bass and Lloyd Hornidge was added as a second guitarist but after another EP Hornidge also left and Simpson switched to guitar. John Arnold moved to bass and Aidan Ellaz joined Alpha Wolf as vocalist.
Alpha Wolf toured with bands like Polaris and signed to Greyscale Records for the release of their debut Mono which came out in July 2017. Mono reached #29 on the ARIA album chart and Alpha Wolf was set to open at Melbourne's Download festival in March 2018 as part of their national tour. Before the festival show and two dates out from the end of the tour, allegations of sexual assault were levelled at Ellas and he was instantly fired from the band, which then went on hiatus for almost a year. Alpha Wolf returned in June 2018 with former Earthender vocalist Lochie Keogh and new permanent drummer Mitch Fogarty. The band's next release was the Fault EP in April 2019, followed by the second album a quiet place to die in late 2020 after national touring with Polaris. The album was nominated for the ARIA for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album in 2021. In early 2022 Alpha Wolf appeared at Unify Gathering. Another tour with Polaris was held off until mid-2022 and then immediately followed by their own national dates with Fit For a King. After that they toured the US with ERRA before a headline tour of their own in September. In March 2023 Alpha Wolf appeared at Knotfest Australia.
