Perth band Make Them Suffer formed in 2008 with a line-up of Sean Harmanis, Nick McLernon, Heather Menaglio, Tim Madden, Chris Arias-Real and Richard West, at first playing melodic deathcore. A demo appeared in 2009, after which West was replaced by Cody Brooks. Shows with '''The Black Dahlia Murder''', '''Unearth''' and '''Between the Buried and Me''' followed over the next couple of years. Debut EP ''Lord of Woe'' appeared in late 2010. During 2011 Brooks and Heather Menaglio were replaced in the band by Craig Buckingham and Louisa Burton. In late 2011 the band toured with [[Thy Art is Murder]], '''The Bride''' and '''War From a Harlot's Mouth'''. In late February 2012, Make Them Suffer signed to Roadrunner Australia. A full length album followed and the band did a national tour in support. Buckingham was replaced by Lachlan Monty and during 2013 Make Them Suffer toured extensively in Europe before returning to Australia where they supported '''Bleeding Through''' mid-year. In mid-2014 the band featured on the Free Your Mind tour with [[Northlane]] and '''Thy Art is Murder'''.
''Old Souls'' was released mid-2015 and peaked at #30 on the ARIA album chart and early the following year signed to US label Rise. Soon after, Burton, Monty and Chris Arias-Real were all replaced. Monty's spot was left unfilled. Burton was replaced by Booka Nile and Jaya Jeffery, who had played some live dates with them, took over from Arias-Real. ''Worlds Apart'' appeared in July 2017, peaking at #29, and Make Them Suffer did a world tour in support, after which Tim Madden departed. Late in 2018 Make Them Suffer toured the US with ''''The Acacia Strain''' and '''After the Burial''' and another North American tour with '''Chelsea Grin''' and '''Born of Osiris''' took place in 2019. COVID curtailed further touring activity after this and the band released ''How To Survive a Funeral'' in June 2020. The album reached #17 on the ARIA chart and Nile appeared on the eighth season of ''Married At First Sight'' that aired in early 2021. During 2021 Make Them Suffer recorded the single ''Contraband'' with guest vocals from Courtney LaPlante of '''Spiritbox''', a song that came in at #1 on The Faction's ''Hardest 100'' countdown in March 2022. Prior to that, Nile was fired from Make Them Suffer in February 2022 after allegations of sexual assault against her, though she has since addressed those on subsequent Instagram posts. Alex Reade from '''Drown This City''' replaced Niles in mid-2022 and the band did a short Australian tour on the back of a new single. Early in 2023 they toured ''Neverbloom'' on its tenth anniversary, releasing a remastered version. The single ''Ghost of Me'' followed later in the year and they appeared at the Good Things festival.
