F L O A T I N G M E was a progressive hard rock/metal band from Sydney originally formed by Andrew Gillespie, Antony Brown and Toby Messiter who were all members of the 90s alterna-metal band Scarymother. Lucius Borich of Cog joined when his other band dissolved. With much of the album completed, Karnivool's Jon Stockman was asked to record bass parts, and as his band was currently on hiatus due to singer Ian Kenny's commitment to Birds of Tokyo, he joined F L O A T I N G M E full-time, allowing the band to begin playing live in early 2011. Their first live performance was opening for Shihad at the first show of a tour in Wollongong in February and they then toured with Dead Letter Circus. Their debut album appeared in April and the band headlined their own shows and toured with Thousand Needles in Red. The album was nominated for an 2011 ARIA Award in the Hard Rock/Heavy Metal category. Further music was promised but Stockman returned to Karnivool and Borich left to form a band with Ezekiel Ox of Mammal and F L O A T I N G M E seems to have subsequently ended.
