Band information
The Boys was a lightweight pop-metal outfit from Perth that originally formed as the Rockhouse Corporation in 1977. The group was highly popular on its local circuit at the beginning of the 80s, finding chart success with a series of singles between 1980 and 1983. While their music was far from the heaviest, at the height of their popularity they supported Iron Maiden in 1982.
The original band (which went through numerous changes there is insufficient data on to list here, but always featuring the Del Roios) split in 1984 but reformed with the line-up above in 1987. Ex-Extremists vocalist Troy Newman was 17 at the time.
In 1988, The Boys changed name to Boyschool but then split up. Celenza and Parise joined Baby Animals the following year. Newman moved to Sydney and found moderate success as a solo performer, scoring a Billboard hit with the single "Love Gets Rough" and the album Gypsy Moon in 1991. He released a second album in 1996 before succumbing to depression and committing suicide in March, 1997.
