Ion Drive was a classic metal band that formed in Melbourne in 1981 and reamined active until mid-2007! This makes them one of the longest-running bands on this site. Even more remarkably, Ion Drive suffered only one line-up change, when Burns was replaced by Thumwood in 1987 although he rejoined four years later. The group did some demos over the years that they were planning to remaster for release on CD at some point, but now seem to have called it quits.
