Gashammer was formed from the ashes of a glam band, Ruby Jargon, and immediately headed into a studio to record a full-length self-titled album. In 1996 they toured with Anthrax and Cyco Myko and supported Fear Factory in Sydney, plus part of a national tour by The Angels and The Poor. A year or so later they had split up.
