Sydney death metal band that formed in 2002, originally under the name Necropsy. A demo was recorded as a two piece of Archer and Thomas but the line-up expanded in 2003 with the addition of Bianca Jamett, plus drummer Bob and guitarist Andrew.
Backyard Mortuary then played its first shows in May 2004, quickly following them with supports to both Exhumed and Deeds of Flesh. After this the line-up changed with only Archer, Thomas and Jamett remaining. Archer played the drums during this period until Andrew rejoined behind the kit and they played at the Bloodlust Festival and supported Insision but by early 2007, Bludgeoner and Stone Wings guitarist Prickett and drummer John were in the band.
