Vespers Descent is a melodic death metal band from Perth that was formed by one time Samain and Pathogen drummer Boeijen from the ashes of his solo project Syntony. The band supported Mayhem in 2002 and Opeth in early 2003 and issued an EP in May 2003 that met with wide acclaim. Over joined Vespers Descent in July 2003 to shore up the guitar attack but then bass player Andrew Doepel left shortly after the release of "Three Faces of Eve". He was replaced by Sandstrom of Pathogen. In June 2004, Vespers Descent supported Exhumed and toured nationally with Hate Eternal in June, 2005. In November of that year, the band's debut album Visions in Verse was released.
