From the Myspace

The original concept of The Alchemont came from the mind of Lynton and original co-guitarist Phil. Phil had a friend named Ryan who was a bass player therefore creating some structure within the band but a backbone was still required and in mid 2005 they found drummer Mike Rule; Jamie Kay also joined as vocalist and the writing process then began.
The Alchemont came to be around Lynton and Phil in 2005. The rest of the line-up came together over the following months and the group began to develop a technical but chaotic style of death metal. Before long however Phil and Ryan departed. By mid 2006 the band was whole again with the addition of Gardiner and Glorie and the name The Alchemont (apparently a term that means a point when the "pinnacle of the mind's evil" is reached) was chosen.

The group decided that they were tired of seeing the same bands play in the local Perth scene and it was starting to get stale. Originality was the key to what the band had in mind, there would be no limits of their creativity to deliver some of the most technically chaotic yet organised music they could come up with.
The band's first live date was in October 2006 opening for [[Psycroptic]] and since then has become a fixture of the local live scene. Their three-track demo "The Pinnacle of the Mind's Evil..." surfaced in 2007 and The Alchemont featured on the Perth leg of [[Festival of the Dead]].

Unfortunatly for Phil and Ryan, the pressure was too much and both members willingly departed the project in search of something a little more up their alley. The remaining members stuck it out as a three piece for a few months and wrote their first 6 songs and in mid 2006 Tristan Gardiner was recruited for his keyboard skills. The last to join the fold was Dennis Glorie on bass.

This combination of musicians and their love of death metal produced a volatile concoction of musical brutality and technical profficiency. The name 'The Alchemont' was then chosen as the name of the band it is a state of mind in which the pinnicale of the minds evil is reached. The Alchemont made their debut appearance in October of 2006 playing support for Tasmanian tech death outfit [[Psycroptic]] and since then over 30 gigs have followed in a span of only 6 months. 2007 has seen the release of their 3 track demo 'The Pinnacle of the Minds Evil...'. In the mean time the band is working on new material for their first full length release to follow up the demo.
