Band information

Taste was best known as a singles band producing rollicking glam rock hits along the lines of the Sweet. However the band's real forte was strong and punchy heavy rock. The band was originally known as Cloud Nine but after Amenta replaced original guitarist Tony Faramond in 1975 became Taste. A string of moderately successful singles followed until mid-1977 when Murdoch left the band. Taste continued for a few months as a trio but split in October 1977. Amenta went on to feature in a range of reasonably well-known acts through the 70s and 80s including Dear Enemy and the Uncanny X-Men and also played with Russell Morris and Darryl Cotton. Virgil Donati later joined Southern Sons and is now of course one of the most highly-regarded drummers in the rock world, currently a member of the US-based progressive metal band Planet X with Derek Sherinian.
