Band information

Sydney's Gashammer managed to get themselves attached to two major national tours despite having never played live previously and with virtually no form of promo, fanbase or previous press. The band was formed from the ashes of a glam band, Ruby Jargon, and immediately headed into a studio to record a full-length self-titled album with a sound drawing so heavily from Alice in Chains it's difficult to tell the difference.

Then, despite having never played live before, the band turned up as national support to 1996's Anthrax/Cyco Myko tour, followed by a Sydney appearance with Fear Factory and part of a national Angels/The Poor double bill. In spite of all of this, Gashammer was unable to develop much of a following of its own and by mid-1997 was no more and a mooted second album never appeared.
