Band information
An early entry in the Melbourne deathcore stakes, The Abandonment formed in 2005. Their blend of deathcore and grind struck a chord with local audiences and they quickly became a popular act on the rising scene. Their debut EP appeared in 2006. In 2008 The Abandonment toured nationally with Asecretdeath and The Benneson Theory and during 2009 began work on a full-length album. Ephemeral was released in February 2010 by Trial and Error and the band went from strength to strength. A tour of their own was followed by shows with As I Lay Dying and a national jaunt with The Red Shore and in June they joined the Unearth/The Black Dahlia Murder tour in Melbourne. Tim Anderson joined The Red Shore's live line-up in late 2010 as the replacement for Jon Green on what would be that band's final tour. Then in 2011, The Abandonment announced they would break up after a final show in Melbourne on January 21. Anderson was in Confession briefly and is now with Iscariot. Joel Taylor and Rob Allen were members of In Trenches and Taylor is currently with Join the Amish.
