Band information

Agatus was formed by Eskarth in Athens, Greece in the early 90s. After some initial demo recordings, Eskarth moved to Adelaide in 1994 with his brother Archon Vorskaath, the principal of his own band Zemial. Both brothers subsequently feature in both groups and have also recorded power metal with Alpha Centauri and progressive rock under the name The Watcher.

Agatus performs haunting and atmospheric, raw black metal with medieval overtones. They were in fact performing this style even before the like of Satyricon. A demo was released in 1993 before the 1994 full length album Dawn of Martyrdom was released on Hypervorea Records and later bootlegged by No Colours. Over the years they played a minimal amount of shows in Melbourne and Adelaide but maintained a cult status in the underground scene worldwide.

Agatus moved to Daun, Germany in 2005.
