Artist Information

Angry Anderson is best known as the lead vocalist with Rose Tattoo, but his entertainment career has also included two solo albums, several acting stints and a tour as the singer with The Party Boys. His recording career began with the Melbourne boogie band Buster Brown in 1973, a group that also included future AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd. Buster Brown played at the Sunbury festival in 1974 and released the album Something to Say before splitting up at the end of 1975. The following year he went to Sydney and joined Rose Tattoo. The Tatts had virtually come to an end by the mid-80s and in 1985 he played Ironbar Bassey in the film Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome.

The album Beats From a Single Drum was recorded in 1986 and originally meant to serve as his debut solo album but contractual obligations saw it released under the Rose Tattoo name. After this he joined The Party Boys on a national tour and appeared as Lenin in a stage musical based on the life of Rasputin. Then in 1987 the Beats... song "Suddenly" was used in the Neighbours episode featuring the wedding of the characters Scott and Charlene and released as an Anderson solo track. It subsequently peaked at #1 in Australia and #3 in Britain and in 1988 Beats From a Single Drum was then re-packaged as his solo debut. His second solo album Blood From Stone was released in 1990 and featured the Top 10 hit single "Bound For Glory". In 1993 he was made a Member of the Order of Australia in recognition of his long-time role as a youth advocate.

After several brief reunion tours in the early 90s, Rose Tattoo reformed in 1998 and continues to the present. In 2003, Anderson and the rest of the band appeared as bikies in the film Fat Pizza.
