Band Information

Taking its name from a character in the Douglas Adams book Life, the Universe and Everything, Brisbane band Arcane plays a form of highly melodic and complex progressive metal in the vein of more experimental and avant garde prog bands like Porcupine Tree and Pain of Salvation. During 2009 the band opened for Queensrÿche and released their second album which was completed a year or so earlier. In 2013 they supported Soilwork in Brisbane, during which time Brendan Brown from Ne Obliviscaris played bass as they searched for a replacement for Brendon Blanchard. Aracne launched a crowd-funding campaign to produce their third album and hit their target in three days. Adrian Goleby joined Arcane in 2014 and they appeared with Anathema late in the year. Most of Arcane's members were also involved in other bands including Caligula's Horse (Grey), Echotide (Gagen) and hazards of swimming naked (Gagen and Martin) and in December 2015 the group announced that it was splitting up.
