Band information

Avarin are a progressive metal band formed in Sydney, Australia in 2005. The original line up consisted of James Draper(Vocals/Gutars), Mike Zoias(guitars) Steve O'farrell(Drums) and Amil Varcar(Bass) began rehearsing and writing songs.

Towards the end of 2006 Avarin entered an annual band competition playing their first 3 shows coming in at second place. Also during this time they began recording a demo entitled "Omniscience" consisting of 4 tracks.

In early 2007 Mike Zoias left the band due to his singing commitments with fellow Sydney band Transcending Mortality. Mike was later replaced by Douglas Skene on guitars.

During 2008 Douglas Skene and Amil Varcar both left Avarin. Nathaniel Smith immediately joined the band as the new bass player.

After almost a year of searching and auditioning to find a second guitarist, Jonathan Talan joined Avarin. Shortly after Mike Zoias re-joined the band, this time on lead vocals. With the current line up Avarin played their first show in Canberra, November 2009. They also recorded 2 track demo featuring "The Burning Sun" and "Shadows and Miracles" which will be available for purchase online shortly. Avarin plan to record their debut album in early 2010.

"Great dynamics and a nice blend of time signatures coupled with a solid understanding of song structure and timing made them a stand out act of the night." Fiona Cameron - (the Drum Media)
