Band information

Betrayer was a Melbourne thrash band that formed in 1984 as a four piece without Marquis, who joined in 1990 after the dissolution of his previous band, Virgin Soldiers. The band recorded a demo titled "Older Than God" that won strong plaudits and Betrayer toured often including a slot one of the Metalfest shows in Sydney in the early 90s and were also supported by bands such as Powder Finger in Sydney. In 1993, the band released their album Grandma, accompanied by a video clip of the title track that went on to be voted Best Australian Metal Clip on Rage that year and the Album noted as being the best album to have ever graced the Hot Metal magazine stereo. Robyn Dorrien from Kerrang magazine also gave the album huge salutes in Europe. Due to unforseen circumstances, Betrayer put it all on hold until a later date..

A short time later, Marquis' former band Virgin Soldiers reformed for a short time with Ashley Robertson joining them.

Marquis now owns a Melbourne rehearsal and recording studio and Hastings is a guitar tech based in the US.

Betrayer have recently reformed after over 14 years of "living life". Their Grandma film clip is now available for all to see on youtube. The existing line up is the same as the original except for Hastings being replaced by Chris Farley ( Virgin Soldiers ). A name change is on the cards although the same intensity will be felt when they return to put their flag on top of the metal mountain!!!
