History

Blacken Open Air is a three-day open air music festival in the Northern Territory. It was established in 2016 as an extension of a smaller local festival called Blacken the Earth highlighting metal and heavy rock from the NT. After several events in and around Alice Springs at various locations, the Blacken Open Air festival moved to the Ross River Resort in Hale in 2019. There was no festival in 2020 due to COVID and the 2021 festival was cancelled a month before it took place. Blacken Open Air returned in 2022 with US death metal band Revocation headlining.
