Band information

Buried in Verona is a melodic metalcore band from Sydney that formed in 2007. Richie Newman joined on drums in order to complete the debut album, released on 23 August 2008, but announced his departure in September. Circle the Dead featured commercial metalcore in the style of Parkway Drive and the band was nominated for an Australian Metal Award for the artwork in 2009. Newman subsequently rejoined the band as a guitarist during 2010.

In early 2010 Buried in Verona recorded their second album in Sweden with Fredrik Nordström and played a few shows in Europe while there; Saturday Night Sever was released in June and the band followed it up by touring with Bermuda and Silent Screams. In September the band went out on tour and played a show with Soilwork in Sydney and they have also opened for Whitechapel, The Devil Wears Prada and The Amity Affliction. During early 2011 Buried in Verona again hit the road, this time with Resist the Thought and opened for The Haunted in May. In July Chituta and Taylor both left the band and were replaced by Nate Martin and Sean Gynn. Scott Richmond also departed due to a hand injury and his place was taken by Daniel Gynn. In late January 2012, the band announced it had signed to UNFD. Notorious marked a clear change in direction as the group disavowed metalcore for a more eclectic direction that embraced their hardcore roots. One track features Ahren Stringer from The Amity Affliction on vocals. The album entered the ARIA Chart in the Top 20 and the band hit the road for an extended tour, after which Chris Melross left to be replaced by former Confession drummer Shane O'Brien. Notorious saw Buried in Verona nominated for an ARIA Award for Best Heavy Metal/Hard Rock Album. At the beginning of 2013 it was announced that O'Brien had departed to join I Killed the Prom Queen. Conor Ward replaced O'Brien and BiV and IKTPQ toured Australia together in mid-2013. Late in the year they appeared on the Vans Warped Tour. Early 2014 the band's fourth album Faceless was released and Buried in Verona toured nationally in support. Faceless peaked at #15 on the ARIA chart but the band hit financial trouble following a tour with The Amity Affliction when their management left them broke; BiV almost broke up at this point and most of the group split with only Anderson and Newman remaining to build a new line-up. The band's fifth album was released on August 7, 2015.
