Band information
Death metal quartet from Sydney whose musical direction touched bases with the likes of Altar, Morbid Angel and even Meshuggah. Deadspawn formed around former Mortality guitarist Darren Jenkins and Bilbija, who came from mid-90s Sydney death metal band Depression, in 1995, but Jenkins was drafted into Cryogenic shortly afterwards and was replaced by Micallef.
The band played its first gig in mid-1996 with Neophobia drummer Grahame Goode behind the kit and quickly rose to become the premier death metal band on the Sydney scene. Goode left shortly afterward to uphold a commitment to Neophobia and was replaced by Morris, also ex-Depression. With a mature and technical approach to their personal brand of extreme metal power, Deadspawn quickly built a solid reputation built on solid live showings and frequent interstate visits.
