Band Information

Mortality was a thrash and death metal band from Sydney. The band originated around the core of Darren Maloney, Luke Ford and Darren Jenkins in the early 1990s as a five piece unit the line-up settled down as a quartet with Rick Fuda on drums. A national tour and supports with the likes of Sepultura along with a string of successful demos raised Mortality's profile Australia-wide. Upheavals occurred in 1994 with the replacement of Fuda by former Kilswitch drummer Steve Pell, and then of Jenkins, who joined Cryogenic in 1996, by Craig Figl. The band's long-awaited debut album Structure appeared in the beginning of 1997, but the long delay in its release affected its impact. Only six months later, the band split up due to musical differences between Maloney and the rest of the band. Maloney joined Cryogenic and the rest formed Porn Caddy, a short-lived rap/metal fusion unit.

Late in 2004, Mortality had reportedly reformed but nothing further eventuated until early 2006 when Ford, Maloney, Pell and ex-Psi.Kore, Infernal Method and Daysend guitarist Andrew Lilley began rehearsing. They played a single show that August.
