Band Information

The Loving Tongue is a band from Adelaide that blends progressive metal with elements of world music and folk, creating a truly unique style that is difficult to pigeonhole or describe adequately. The group began playing a mixture of a variety of styles ranging from blues and funk to metal and ambience and recorded a full length album and an EP before Deeble was replaced by Jones. During 1999 the group toured the US before Deeble returned. At this point the Loving Tongue began to concentrate on a progressive metal style that incorporated elements of Celtic music. Distant Dreams is a double album featuring instrumentation that includes Irish whistle and zither.

The Petkoffs have since completed a third album and during 2007 have done live work in Europe with Dimitrios of Zemial playing drums.

Jim Petkoff is also a member of Raven Black Night.
