Band information

Taking their name from a line in Macbeth, Thy Art is Murder is a Sydney band formed in 2006, originally played immediately forgettable deathcore but since evolving to technical death metal. By the end of 2006 the group had already completed a successful tour of Queensland and began working on an EP shortly afterward. "Infinite Death" was released on July 23 2008. The band then set off on a two month national tour with Gallows for Grace.

Van Ryn departed the group in October. CJ McMahon from Vegas in Ruins joined the band in April 2009 and they then went on a second national tour. For the next year, they focused on the completion of their first full-length release. During studio pre-production they met engineer Mick Low, guitarist for Scar This Sky. After taking up bass duties full-time, the band then tracked a large portion of the album in Low's home studio. The Adversary was released in July 2010, followed by a two month national tour. Folloing that they teamed up with Despised Icon and The Red Shore for Australian touring.
