A metalcore band from the Gold Coast, Torn Asunder formed in 2006 and quickly developed a solid reputation among the area's HC and metal audiences. With the addition of Paul from '''Re-Invention''' in early 2007 the line-up consolidated and ran second in the Queensland Rock Awards. Following this, "The Unleashing" EP produced by ex-[[Sakkuth]] guitarist Adam Merker was released late in the year accompanied by a DVD, with one track winning a nomination in the Queensland Music Awards; the band also made the finals of the MusicOz Awards. After a special appearance at a one-off performance by [[Sunk Loto]], the band began working on a full-length album in March 2008.
