Band information

Tyrant hailed originally from Hobart where in an earlier incarnation it had played under the name Slyder, a moniker to which it eventually reverted in 1986. Tyrant came to be in l982 and eventually moved to Sydney scene where they developed a reasonable profile and went on to headline Metal Crusade in April 1985. A hard-riffing heavy boogie band in the AC/DC/Rose Tattoo mixed with 80s style metal, Tyrant featured strong lead vocals from Wilson.

In late 1998 the band reformed and has since released a couple of albums of loud, blues-drenched metal. Tyrant has been on hold for some time as Wilson works with another outfit called Roadkill but there are apparently plans to resurrect the band late in 2007 with a completely new line-up.
