Band information
Altars is an Adelaide band that has existed in some form since 2005. The line-up solidified with the addition of Dewar from Sarsekim in 2007. The band's style is an experimental form of death metal and ambience; a demo was released in 2008 and the band supported Dismember in Adelaide. Altars opened for Cannibal Corpse in September 2009. Around the same time a split release with Tzun Tzu appeared. Jon Dewar departed in 2011 and Cale Schmidt took over the bass duties. Altars split in 2016, but reformed with Brendan Sloan in place of Schmidt in 2021.
