Band Information

Hatchet Dawn is a heavy dark groove band from Melbourne playing a style that combines Crowbar-like sludge with furious thrashing riffs and vocals like a cross between Devin Townsend and Rob Zombie. The band was conceived mid-2006 by founding member and guitarist/songwriter Howsie Noise. Howsie was a member of Terrorust briefly during 2006.

Hatchet Dawn's initial 2007 lineup featured Adam "Loki" Stewart on vocals, Howsie Noise on guitars, Lee Kollias from Dialysis on drums, Justin Horne (also Dialysis) on bass and Glenn Kollias on guitars. This lineup recorded the five-track EP "Faith in Chaos" in 2007 but it remained un-released for two years due to a lineup change early in 2008 that saw all original members except Howsie Noise move on to work in other bands and projects. Early 2008 Howsie recruited Daniel Spizzirri on vocals, Andrew Posterino on drums and recorded two new songs, "30 Pieces of Silver" and "Jokes Over". Ash White from The Symbiosist featured on bass.

A debut album was put into production in July 2008 with DW Norton producing but never eventuated. Howsie then resurrected Hatchet Dawn with Loki and recruited D-man on drums, Billie-Jade on bass and Ben Vengeance on guitars. Hatchet Dawn’s debut live performance was on 23rd January 2009 at Switch in Hawthorn.

Hatchet Dawn opened for Marilyn Manson in October 2009 for four dates in Melbourne and Adelaide. The band also toured the east coast. Loki and Vengeance departed the band in late January 2010. Bert Cuzens from The Symbiosist/Dialysis and Daz (also The Symbiosist) united with the current lineup. Hatchet Dawn released their album Rebirth in mid-2011.
