Full Scale was an aggressive nu-metal band that made considerable headway, eventually moving to the United States and releasing an album on Columbia Records before shattering apart. The group formed in Perth in 1998 under the name Full Scale Deflection with Chris Frey on bass and Nick Frey on drums; a change to the rhythm section with the addition of bassist Rob Kaay and drummer Matty C was followed by the release of the ''Symptoms of Chaos'' album which quickly sold out of its initial print run. The group won the WA leg of the National Campus Band Competition in 2000 and played the Perth Big Day Out in early 2001 before moving to Melbourne later in the year. After signing to Pop Star Records, the group shortened its name to Full Scale.

Mid-2004 they were part of the Army of Darkness tour that also featured Sunk Loto, Frankenbok and New Zealand band 8 Foot Sativa. In December, the group moved to Hollywood after signing to Columbia.
