Agatus is a black metal band formed by Eskarth in Athens, Greece in the early 90s. After some initial demo recordings, Eskarth moved to Adelaide in 1994 with his brother Archon Vorskaath, the principal of his own band [[Zemial]]. Both brothers subsequently feature in both groups and have also recorded power metal with [[Alpha Centauri]] and progressive rock under the name '''The Watcher'''. 


Agatus was originally from Greece but was located in Adelaide from the mid-90s until 2005. The band performs haunting and atmospheric, raw black metal with medieval overtones. They were in fact performing this style even before the like of '''Satyricon'''. A demo was released in 1993 before the 1994 full length album ''Dawn of Martyrdom'' was released on Hypervorea Records, later bootlegged by No Colours. Over the years they have played a minimal amount of shows in Melbourne and Adelaide but have maintained a cult status in the underground scene worldwide.
