Band information
Since forming in 2007 from the ashes of other metal bands Isolar and Leechseed, House of Thumbs has become a fixture of the Melbourne metal scene, churning out high-energy gigs to a growing legion of fans at venues such as The Tote, Switch, Musicland and the Arthouse.
The band combines death and thrash metal techniques and vocals with the polyrhythmic patterns and discordant melodies associated with technical death metal, math metal and experimental metal. Heavy musical influences include Strapping Young Lad, Meshuggah and Textures, while vocalist Linden Audino also lists crossover acts Faith no More and Lamb of God as impactful on his vocalwork.
2008 saw House of Thumbs release its debut EP, Strangle Fiction to some acclaim. The five-track EP provided listeners with an insight into the group's polyrhythmic and chaotic style and was toured throughout regional Victoria. It was on these shows that House of Thumbs developed a reputation for unusual merchandise, unveiling a line of plaster thumb ornaments called the "anti-dice" (and also, the "thumbchuckers").
2009 will see the release of the group's first full-length album Crossing the Rubicon, a body of work that showcases a deathier, heavier direction mostly due to the introduction of blastbeats. The album will be toured nationally.
