Band information

Frozen Doberman was an excellent melodic thrash metal band from the New South Wales Central Coast region with origins going back to 1989. The band released the three-track "Beer Can" demo in 1990 followed by a self-financed EP in 1991 and supported Motorhead at The Playroom on the Gold Coast in 1991. The following year they opened for Sepultura with Massappeal, and played at MetalFest in Sydney, with Allegiance and Tumbleweed amongst others. In 1993 the group recorded a demo that was never released and played one of its best known performances, through a vocal PA in the bar of the Sydney Entertainment Centre at the Metallica concert while Kyuss opened on the main stage inside!

Bonsai was released in 1994 and Frozen Doberman toured nationally, after which Barry was replaced by Jason Garito from Damaged Goods. The "Beautiful Day" EP was recorded in 1995 but not given proper release for almost two years. In the meantime, Frozen Doberman wrote almost a complete album but decided to split up at the end of 1997 before it could be completed.

The band released a nine-track collection on iTunes in 2009 and in 2010 performed a reunion show at the Manning Bar in Sydney as part of the "Monster Sessions" alongside bands which included Depression and The Celibate Rifles.
