Transcending Mortality is a Sydney-based band plying a neat line in melodic traditional metal with a power metal influence. The band was formed in 2003 by former [[Baraka]] guitarist Talan; that band's drummer also featured on the three-track demo that won considerably strong reviews. After completing the line-up with the addition of Eves on bass and drummer Schriffer, the band began to develop a following. In late 2006 they supported '''Nevermore''' nationally before releasing a debut album in November.

Band information

Transcending Mortality was a Sydney traditional metal/power metal band, formed in 2003 by former Baraka guitarist Jonathon Talan; that band's drummer also featured on the three-track demo. After completing the line-up with the addition of Corey Eves on bass and drummer Matt Schriffer, the band began to develop a following. In late 2006 they supported Nevermore nationally before releasing a debut album in November.

Transcending Mortality undertook a national tour in early 2007 before supporting Evergrey in the middle of the year. Prior to this, Chris Griffin left the band and former bassist Corey Eves returned to complete live commitments. After the tour, Nathaniel Smith joined Transcending Mortality and the group decided to concentrate on writing and further recording; however in October Jonathon Talan left the band. After a short search for a replacement, the group decided to remain a four piece. In 2008 Transcending Mortality played a final show with Vanishing Point on August 23 and shortly after changed their name to Rituals of the Oak. An EP "The Mirror's Eye" was eventually completed by the band after their official end and was released in early 2009.

Smith, Zoias and Talan later regrouped as Avarin, Eves has played in a string of Sydney bands and Schriffer was later with Ya̧nomamö.
