Band Information
Wolfkahn is a band from Sydney. Their sound can be described as a blend of traditional metal elements combined with a modern metal approach. The band is due to release a self-titled EP in June 2010.
Guitarists Spiro Hatziandreou and Pierre Duyker met and formed Rebirth in early 2004, which disbanded 2 years later when Duyker moved to Wagga Wagga, NSW to pursue his university degree. Hatziandreou formed Lake For The Lost with vocalist Chris Elder in 2006, which enjoyed reasonable success in Sydney's metalcore scene until their split in early 2008.
Soon after, Duyker returned to Sydney and talks had already begun with Hatziandreou about starting a new project. They created the name Wolfkahn, which they intend to mean 'King (or Leader) of Wolves'. The word kahn is a slight variation on khan - meaning 'ruler' in Mongolian, which they felt aesthetically looked better as a word but also helped disassociate them with 'Wolfkhan', a little-known Polish black metal band who disbanded in the mid-90s.
Luke Martignago (ex-Metal and briefly Daemon Foetal Harvest) was recruited in 2009 and shortly after Elder rejoined as vocalist after a brief stint with Ignite The Ibex. The band are currently seeking a full-time bass player.
