Band information
Airbourne is a hard rock band in the traditional Australian pub rock vein. Like Doomfoxx their sound draws so heavily from AC/DC as to be almost indistinguishable at times.
The band released an EP in 2004 before moving to Melbourne and caused an almost immediate signing frenzy. Before the end of 2005 Airbourne had signed a five album deal with Capitol Records and opened for Mötley Crüe. During 2006 the band joined the summer festivals circuit inlcuding the Big Day Out and played the Melbourne support to the Rolling Stones. Following this the group headed in to record the album Runnin' Wild but major shake-ups at Capitol meant that Airbourne was dropped from the label's roster in February 2007. EMI retained the band for Australian release however and the album was issued in July, reaching #21 on the national album chart. The group has since signed to Roadrunner for international distribution.
Airbourne toured Australia with Motörhead and Rose Tattoo in October, 2007.
