Band Information
Jerk was a loud and brash Sydney four piece making a raucous noise in an industro-metallic vein that shares allegiances with the likes of Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails and even Stabbing Westward, though somewhat more convincingly than most others. The band formed around Cilia, Lowder, ex-Candy Harlots bassist Dee and singer Devoy from Anxiety Whispers. A six-track EP and video followed almost immediately and the band featured at Metal for the Brain. In April 2002 they were signed to Sony. In February 2003, Jerk supported Disturbed on their sold-out national tour, followed up later in the year by major supports with Insane Clown Posse, Marilyn Manson and Killing Joke. Their album When Pure is Defiled charted in the national Top 30
The band was to appear at Metal for the Brain again in 2003 but withdrew the day before the show when Devoy left, although this was not made official until early the next year. Devoy was replaced by Mario Spate as one of their songs, "Sucked In", was added to the soundtracks of two video games but this combination only lasted a brief time and Jerk had finished by the end of 2004. Dee, Cilia and Devoy formed Ink in January 2006.
