Band information
Ritual of the Oak came to be in September 2008 when the four remaining members of Transcending Mortality decided to end that band so they could take their music into a doom direction. Mike Zoias left almost immediately and was replaced by Shane Linfoot's then-wife, Sabine Hamad-Linfoot from Lycanthia. The band released their debut Hour of Judgement in November 2009. During 2010, Nathaniel Smith departed and former The Amenta member Dale Harrison joined the band. A three-way split with The Flight of Sleipnir and Apostle of Solitude followed in 2011, and a second full length album emerged in 2012. Some time after this the band split, but the album they completed was eventually released in 2017, showing a departure from their traditional doom style and featuring combinations of psychedelic rock, jazz and progressive metal.
