Band information

diSEMBOWELMENT was a doom/death band that originally formed as a two-piece grind band called Bacteria in Melbourne in 1989. After recording a demo, Renato Gallina and Paul Mazziotta added Tim Aldridge from Acheron on bass and became diSEMBOWELMENT. Dean Ruprich from Necrotomy replaced Aldridge after about a year and they recorded the demo Mourning September. Former Acheron guitarist Jason Kells joined the band shortly after, handling guitar and bass duties on the second demo and a track for the German compilation Pantalgia - An International Death Metal Compilation.

Matt Skarajew became the band's bass player on the Dusk EP. The following year Transcendence Into the Peripheral was released, and following its release the band split. Gallina and Skarajew continued with Trial of the Bow, a band experimenting with a combination of folk, ambience and Middle Eastern music. Kells went on to form Firebird in the late 90s. Skarajew and Mazziotta were later active in a grind band called Pulgar.

In late 2005, Relapse released all of diSEMBOWELMENT's recorded work as a special edition double CD. In 2010, Mazziotta and Skarajew reconvened under the name d.USK for occasional performances. That band is now known as Inverloch.
