Band Information
Hatchet Dawn is a heavy dark groove band from Melbourne playing a style that combines Crowbar-like sludge with furious thrashing riffs and vocals like a cross between Devin Townsend and Rob Zombie. The band was conceived mid 2006 by founding member and guitarist/songwriter Howsie Noise. Howsie was a member of Terrorust briefly during 2006.
Hatchet Dawn's initial 2007 lineup featured Adam "Loki" Stewart on vocals, Howsie Noise on guitars, Lee Kollias from Dialysis on drums, Justin Horne from Dialysis on bass and Glenn Kollias on guitars. This lineup recorded a five-track debut in 2007 but remained un-released for 2 years due to a lineup change early in 2008 seeing all original members except Howsie Noise move on to work in other bands and projects. Early 2008 Howsie recruited Daniel Spizzirri on vocals and Andrew Posterino on Drums and recorded 2 new songs '30 Pieces of Silver' and 'Jokes Over' at Melbourne Records with Ren Parisi and remain un-released. Ash White from The Symbiosist guest appeared on bass.
2 times ARIA nominated producer/ex Superheist guitarist DW Norton was contracted to produce a full length album after obtaining a copy of '30 Pieces of Silver' and 'Jokes Over'. The debut album was put into production July 2008. While conspiring to record the debut album a creative transformation turned studio project adopted the name White Cell leaving the Hatchet Dawn vision on hiatus until late 2008. Howsie resurrected the original Hatchet Dawn apparition with Adam "Loki" Stewart and recruited Dman on Drums, Billie-Jade on Bass and Ben Vengeance on guitars. Hatchet Dawn previous to this lineup had never performed a live show until 23rd January 2009 at 'Switch' Casey's Nightclub in Hawthorn Melbourne.
Hatchet Dawn opened for Marilyn Manson in October 2009 for four dates in Melbourne and Adelaide during the bands 'Halloween Chaos 09 Tour'. Adam "Loki" Stewart and Ben Vengeance departed the band in late January 2010. Rob Cuzens from The Symbiosist/Dialysis and Darren Smith from The Symbiosist united with the current lineup and Hatchet Dawn are in progress to begin work on a new release June 2010.
Faith In Chaos
Hatchet Dawn recorded a debut EP titled ‘Faith in Chaos’ at 3Phase studios in Melbourne during October and November 2007 with sound engineer/producer Sam Johnson. The band shot a promotional video clip with film director Stuart Simpson for the song ‘The Serpent Order’ from the ‘Faith in Chaos’ EP late December 2007. The video follows a post apocalyptic theme with mild zombie horror content.
The ‘Faith in Chaos’ EP was official released 14th April 2009 through AMPHEAD distribution as a limited edition digi pack and digitally released on ITUNES through THE ORCHARD. The limited edition digi pack also features 'The Serpent Order' music video as bonus material.
