Aftermath was an early Sydney death metal act established in 1991. While they never managed a commercial release, Aftermath issued a number of staunch demos that got them noticed enough to play no less than four international supports slots, appearing alongside '''Carcass''', '''Cannibal Corpse''', '''Deicide''' and '''Pungent Stench'''. Despite such an impressive resume, Aftermath had become fraught with personnel problems by 1996 and split up late that year. Tony and Jay were replaced by Shane and Pat Piercy respectively in 1994; they themselves were replaced the next year by Leif Gregory and Alex Hole. Gregory later joined [[Dark Order]] and Shane Pearcy went to [[Volatile]] and then [[Bludgeoner]]. Hole was later in '''Sh'mantra''' with ex-[[Cruciform]] members Michael Lenton and Matt Seldon.

Aftermath reformed in 2003 as Moffat, Kidd, Wegner and Lee but Jeff soon left for the UK and joined '''Anchorhead'''. Ex-[[Persecution]] vocalist Rod Hunt was recruited and with a new bass player Dave Hickey the band began work on new songs, but in the end the group split up in 2006 without ever playing live. Wegner, Lee, Gregory and Moffat attempted another reunion in 2010 but that too stalled. Pat Piercy died on May 30, 2013 and Leif Gregory suffered a fatal heart attack on December 21, 2016.


In 2010 Aftermath were threatening to finally put out a CD. Gregor, Jay, Leif and Jeff were working on the logistics of recording with Jeff in the UK and were hoping to have all the Aftermath songs re-recorded and released by the end of the year, but this did not eventuate.
In 2019, Aftermath reunited with three original members, Wegner, Lee - now on guitar - and Trenter, now as bassist, with Loz Lamy from [[Deiformity]] on vocals and Pete Kelly drumming. ''Remastermath'', a compilation of all their early demo tracks, was released in mid-2021 after a return show earlier in the year.
