Altars is an Adelaide band that has existed in some form since 2005. The line-up solidified with the addition of Dewar from [[Sarsekim]] in 2007. The band's style is an experimental form of death metal and ambience; a demo was released in 2008 and the band supported '''Dismember''' in Adelaide. Altars opened for '''Cannibal Corpse''' in September 2009. Around the same time a split release with [[Tzun Tzu]] appeared. Jon Dewar departed in 2011 and Cale Schmidt took over the bass duties.
