A Melbourne power metal band in the '''Stratovarius''' mould, Crimsonfire was formed around Melichar, Tabone and Gorgievski in 1998. After a formative song-writing period, the band was joined by Paul Yoannidis and one time [[Supremacy]] drummer Dom Pinto. A three-track demo was recorded in mid-2000 and two years later work began on a full-length album. After signing to Majestic Rock Records, Crimsonfire's self-titled debut album was released in October 2005.

In August 2008 Yoannidis left the group and sometime later Pinto also departed; Damien Brede and John Wauchope (ex-[[Enter Twilight]] then joined the fold. Dan Presland from [[Ne Obliviscaris]] later played drums with Crimsonfire for a brief period.
