Band information

Spawn was a death metal band formed in Bathurst in 1994 by then high school students Che deBoehmler and Mark Sikora. The original lineup was a four piece, also including David Sikora on bass and Richard Pearce on drums. This lineup spent a year developing its sound however following the tragic death of Mark Sikora, Spawn split for a short time before reforming in early 1995 with Wayne Moldez on rhythm guitar and Chris Albon on lead vocals.

During 1996 the band enlisted a Christine Ng as full time keyboardist in order to develop a Gothic aspect to their sound. Then while preparing to record an EP in 1997, inter-band tension came to a head and when Pearce failed to attend the sessions deBoehmler recorded them instad. This recording was never formally released, and soon after the band ceased for some time.

Reconvening in 1999, Spawn recorded the EP "The Spore" that was released in 2000. Following this, the band began gigging regularly again, making their first appearances in Sydney and other areas outside the local region. Hamish Price joined the band during this period also, replacing Wayne Moldez. However, towards the end of the recording of a full length album in 2003 the lineup of the band again soon dissolved. Nelson, Noyce and Golsby then joined and Spawn contributed a track to a compilation and played further shows in Canberra and Sydney, however with members split between Sydney and Bathurst the group decided to disband. DeBoehmler formed The Veil in 2006.
