Band information
Avrigus was conceived in the early 90s by Simon Gruer and the first live line-up included ex-Mortal Sin drummer Wayne Campbell and a young Leif Gregory (Aftermath, Total Abuse) but it wasn't until he was introduced to Judy Chiara by one of his Cruciform bandmates that the idea flowered; after Cruciform split Avrigus became a reality and the duo demoed two tracks and in 1998 Warhead Records released the debut EP "The Final Wish". Chiara also recorded some backing vocals on Elysium's album Dreamscapes.
The band completed their full length album in early 2000 but Warhead had folded so Chiara shopped the recording throughout Europe and Dutch label Hammerhead offered to release it. The Secret Kingdom was released on label off-shoot Well of Urd in February 2001, receiving accolades around the globe. However, the band has never received proper compensation from the sales of the album.
Gruer and Chiara have not worked together for a number of years and in May 2007 Gruer announced that Judy Chiara was no longer a member of the band. The album The Hidden Citadel was completed in late 2009 with new vocalist Megan Robins. The five-track EP "Beauty and Pain" was released in mid-2010.
