Band information
With nearly 15 years' history behind them, Brisbane metal mainstays D9 have well and truly cemented themselves as a force to be reckoned with. Their career has seen them banned from venues, destroy stages (literally) and pummel national metal festivals in their drive to produce the dirtiest and most powerful live show they can. The band has even come back from the brink of death to reform as a tight five piece.
D9 started in 1998 as a six-piece band, playing their first gig in Wynnum. Over the next couple of years, D9 carved their niche in the Brisbane metal and punk scene by playing at venues including the Railway Hotel and the Gabba Hotel.
After line-up changes in 2001, D9 became a seven-piece band. It was that line-up that entered the studio to record their debut full-length album 'High Binder'.
The High Binder' LP was official released on Ward 69 Records in early 2003, and was quickly followed by shows in Canberra, Sydney and Adelaide. Later highlights included supporting Strapping Young Lad, and slots on Overcranked and Metal for the Brain.
In May 2005, D9 called it a day… but not for long. In March 2008, the band hit the stage for a reunion gig at Infernofest. The taste was back. Continuing as a five-piece, D9 has since shared the stage with bands such as Frankenbok, Segression, The Dead, Dreamkillers and Silver Ocean Storm. They have also played top slots at Infernofest 1, 2 and 3 and Dead Of Winter '09 and '10.
In 2011, D9 entered Blackbox Studios with Matt Taylor to record a slab of heavy new songs. The new EP, 'Nothing Is Real Now', is available now.
