Killing Time played melody-laden contemporary heavy metal rock. The band was originally centred around veteran guitarist Jed Starr (the lynchpin with such bands as [[King's Cross]], [[Massive Appendage]] and [[Fester Fanatics]]) who, while not an original member, quickly gave the band the songwriting edge it needed.  
Killing Time formed in Melbourne in 1989 as a '''Stooges'''-style band. Tubby Wadsworth and his former bandmate Jed Starr both joined in 1990 and the band began playing a funk-edged heavy metal style.
