Band Information
Killing Time formed in Melbourne in 1989 as a Stooges-style band. Tubby Wadsworth and his former bandmate Jed Starr both joined in 1990 and the band began playing a funk-edged heavy metal style. By 1991 they had signed to Red Eye and released Ruby's Mind soon after. Syd Green replaced Wadsworth at the end of 1991 after a short time with Russell Hopkinson on drums. The following year Killing Time supported international tourists including Faith No More, Scatterbrain, Mudhoney and Jane's Addiction.
Dream Alone peaked at #23 on the national singles charts, and shortly afterward Starr left and Chris Collins joined ahead of them heading to the US to record a full length album. During the recording period, Killing Time changed its name to Mantissa to avoid confusion with several other bands with the same name.
