Band information
Centaur was a Perth death metal band founded in early 1999 by guitarists Hooper and Dion Hicks. The original line-up was completed by Jason Senior (vocals) and Brett Von Paleske (bass); drummers were frequent for much of the band's formative period but the "Addicted to Hate" demo featured Merim Osmanovich on drums and Cale Wilson replacing Van Paleske. This recording projected Centaur as a raw but energetic thrash band with death overtones.
Some months after its release the band effectively split up, although the name was kept alive by the two guitarists and late in 2000 a line-up featuring Dave Streeter (drums), Cressel and Dave Dow (bass) had been put together. This new line-up was even heavier and more death-styled than before. Osmanovich joined Choke for a short time in early 2001.
Centaur spent considerable time off playing live through 2002 to concentrate on the recording of the EP that was released in March 2003. Line-up changes continued shortly after its release when Hicks and Streeter were replaced by Ivans and Stanley but Cressal left in mid-2004 to concentrate on another project called Malignant Monster and Centaur is no more.
